Hybrids have become increasingly popular with each passing year, as they’ve made it easier for players of all ability levels to improve performance on longer shots over what they would otherwise have been able to accomplish with a traditional long iron. The Tech Story
As is the case with Callaway’s new Rogue fairway woods, Rogue hybrids are utilizing Jailbreak Technology, which is a first for Callaway in a hybrid. More specifically, engineers have utilized two steel bars within the clubhead to connect the sole and crown. The result is that the body of the clubhead is stiffened and the clubface can subsequently endure more of the impact load, which maximizes energy transfer and ball speed. The addition of Jailbreak Technology combined with the use of Callaway’s highly successful Face Cup, which is also a ball-speed generating technology, is leading to what the company is calling its most powerful hybrids ever. Callaway is also using an ultra-thin Carpenter 455 steel clubface in the design that along with the Face Cup further maximizes ball speed on center-face strikes but also provides ball speed protection on shots played from the heel or toe or high and low on the face. Rogue hybrids also feature an Internal Standing Wave, which Callaway has successfully implemented into some of its recent iron designs. It allows weight to be precisely positioned to achieve CG positions that optimize performance, which in the case of the Rogue hybrids is lower and slightly forward to create optimal spin and naturally high launch conditions. The placement of the center of gravity will also provide exceptional stability at impact to provide more consistent results regardless of strike location.
