Ping G700 Iron Set 7-PW, UW Graphite Regular Men's Right

Condition Rating: 7

What does this mean?

PING’s G700 irons have been designed to provide golfers maximum distance in an iron set. Additionally, they will deliver naturally high launch conditions and impressive forgiveness on off-center strikes. While that sounds like the recipe for traditional game-improvement irons, which are typically created solely for higher-handicap players, the G700 irons also offer a clean profile and pleasing impact sound and feel as well, which means a mid- or maybe even lower-handicap player who simply needs more distance might want to consider these irons as well. For those, however, who want forgiveness but value workability as high or higher than distance, the G400 or i200 irons from PING might be a better option.

The Tech Story

As mentioned above, where the new G700 irons excel is in terms of distance, and PING engineers have found a number of ways to create faster ball speeds and more distance with these irons. First and foremost, the G700 features a maraging steel clubface that undergoes a specialized heat treatment and utilizes C300 material, which is three times as strong as 431 stainless steel. The result is a clubface that flexes twice as much at much at impact when compared to the G400 irons, which provides ball speeds more in line with what players would see from a G400 hybrid or Crossover. Additionally, G700 irons are also the first hollow body design that PING has created in an iron. The hollow design strategy supports the faster clubface to help produce distance gains and also allows weight to be pushed to the perimeter of the clubhead to improve forgiveness, as ball speed is better maintained on off-center strikes. Also adding to the impressive level of forgiveness that the G700 irons offer is a low, deep CG position that features extreme weighting in the heel and toe regions to offer maximum stability at impact. The low center of gravity also contributes to the high launch conditions that the G700s produce, as do the flexing mechanics of the clubface. Also of note, a new sole design that offers more width and bounce has been utilized with the G700 irons to improve turf interaction through the set, while their Hydropearl finish looks sharp and helps promote consistent spin numbers from any sort of lie.
