Golf Club Condition Rating Guide

Rating guide is on a scale of 1 to 10

with 10 being the best condition (new)

Clubs are in 3 categories - woods, irons, putters

 

Woods - Drivers - Fairway Woods -  Hybrids - Crossovers

10 - new never used

9 minimal use, almost or nearly new condition

8 Better than average condition

7 average use, shows some wear from regular use over a period of time, may have slight chips or scratches associated with normal use and wear

6 lower than average condition

4-5 signs of heavy use, may have significant paint chipping or heavily worn areas on sole or crown

3 or less - heavy use and may have dents on crown or sole

 

Irons & Wedges

10 - new never used

9 minimal use, almost or nearly new condition

8 Better than average condition

7 average use, shows some wear from regular use over a period of time, may have slight chips or scratches associated with normal use and wear, sole will typically show some wear and reduced gloss and some wear to grooves as well

6 lower than average condition

4-5 signs of heavy use, may have significant wear to grooves and possibly chrome is worn through

3 or less - very heavy use and may have significant wear to both the grooves and finish, cosmetically very poor

Putters

10 - new never used

9 minimal use, almost or nearly new condition

8 better than average condition

7 average use, shows some wear from regular use over a period of time, may have slight chips or scratches associated with normal use and wear, sole will typically show some wear and reduced gloss and some wear to face as well is possible

6 lower than average condition

4-5 signs of heavy use, may have significant wear to face and sole and possibly significant paint chipping also

3 or less - very heavy use and may have significant wear to both the face and finish, cosmetically very poor
